Okay, we all know what teeth are.

خب، همه‌مون می‌دونیم دندون‌ها چین.

But I didn’t know that my teeth had skin.

اما نمی‌دونستم دندونام پوست دارن.

By the Skin of My Teeth

با پوست دندونام / به سختی

It was funny running into you yesterday.

دیروز دیدن تو بامزه بود.

Sorry I had to rush off.

ببخشید که مجبور شدم سریع برم.

But I was running late for a movie I wanted to see.

اما برای فیلمی که می‌خواستم ببینم دیرم شده بود.

Oh! Did you make it to the movie on time?

آه! به فیلم سر وقت رسیدی؟

I made it by the skin of my teeth.

با هزار زحمت رسیدم.

Just as I sat down, the movie started.

درست همین که نشستم، فیلم شروع شد.

“By the skin of my teeth” means to narrowly or barely escape something bad.

«By the skin of my teeth» یعنی به سختی یا به زور از یه چیز بد فرار کردن.

Many English expressions come from the Bible, or Christian holy book.

خیلی از عبارت‌های انگلیسی از انجیل، یا کتاب مقدس مسیحی، میاد.

In the Bible, a character escapes an evil test.

تو انجیل، یه شخصیت از یه آزمایش بد فرار می‌کنه.

In one version, it says that he “escaped with the skin of my teeth.”

تو یه نسخه، می‌گه که اون «با پوست دندونام فرار کرد.»
