آنا: خبر سارا رو شنیدی؟ رئیس بردش شام و بعد روز بعد اخراجش کرد.

Jonathan: The same thing happened to Jason. The boss took him to dinner and then fired him!

جاناتان: همین اتفاق برای جیسون هم افتاد. رئیس بردش شام و بعد اخراجش کرد!

Anna: Dinner with the boss is like a canary in a coal mine.

آنا: شام با رئیس مثل قناری تو معدن زغال‌سنگه.

The expression “canary in a coal mine” is used as a warning.

عبارت «canary in a coal mine» به عنوان یه هشدار استفاده میشه.

If a canary breathes poisonous gases, it gets sick and dies more quickly than a human would.

اگه قناری گازهای سمی تنفس کنه، سریع‌تر از یه انسان مریض میشه و می‌میره.

Coal miners used to bring these birds into the mines with them.

معدن‌کارهای زغال‌سنگ قبلاً این پرنده‌ها رو با خودشون می‌بردن تو معدن.

If the canaries died, the miners knew the air was not healthy.

اگه قناری‌ها می‌مردن، معدن‌کارها می‌فهمیدن که هوا سالم نیست.
