تک به معنی یکی از چیزیه و جفت به معنای دوتا از چیزیه.

The phrase “on the double” means to do something very quickly.

عبارت «on the double» یعنی چیزی رو خیلی سریع انجام دادن.

The expression comes from the military.

این اصطلاح از ارتش اومده.

When troops march ‘double time,” they move twice as fast as normal.

وقتی که سربازا «on the double» رژه میرن، دو برابر سرعت عادی حرکت میکنن.
